All Eyes gallery: Monica Herndon’s favorite photos of 2017

Tower Dairy is less than 10 miles from downtown Tampa and the last dairy farm in Hillsborough County, Florida. Although the farm used to be at the end of a dirt road, development has closed in on the property, which was sold for $20 million. “They offered them so much money they couldn’t afford not to sell it, ” Sammy Busciglio said.

During the spring I followed the last Hillsborough County dairy farm to their new home in Georgia. This was the first project that I’ve seen completely through; from conception to publication. I spent the second half of the year following college football in Florida. A season that started with high hopes for the Seminoles ended with the Hurricanes in the ACC Championship and an Orange Bowl invitation. As the year wraps up, I’m realizing how grateful I am for a job where I can cover such varied topics. I’m looking forward to next year and all of the surprises that come with it.
