A property developer is one of four men facing more than 650 charges after authorities smashed a major drug ring allegedly linked to the Hells Angels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang on the Gold Coast.
The Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission’s (CCC) Operation Altana targeted the production, supply and trafficking of ice and cocaine worth millions of dollars.
The CCC is alleging the syndicate used a property on the popular Tedder Avenue restaurant strip at Main Beach to cut and package the drugs.
The CCC also says one of the men sourced illegal steroids from Thailand.
A range of weapons were seized during Operation Altana including a pump action shotgun, rifle, butterfly knife and Taser.
On Saturday the CCC charged three men, including a 55-year-old property developer from Surfers Paradise who is facing 296 charges including trafficking and supplying ice and cocaine.
A 41-year-old mortgage broker from Main Beach is facing 244 similar charges, and a 46-year old security systems expert from Main Beach has been charged with 26 offences.
A 55-year-old Gold Coast man was charged by the CCC in January as part of the same operation with 91 offences including trafficking ice and cocaine and 74 counts of supplying drugs.
The accused men have been given bail and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on March 3.
The CCC said Operation Altana is linked with two previous CCC operations, Gloss and Amulet, which also targeted ice in Queensland and NSW.
Outlaw motorcycle gang members and associates charged during operations Gloss and Amulet included the national president of the Lone Wolf OMCG and patched members of the Gold Coast Hells Angels, Gold Coast Black Uhlans and Rebels in Cowra (NSW).
