Toning is one of the most important steps in any skincare routine. After cleansing the face, toners help in providing the much-needed hydration to the open pores while also shutting them up to avoid clogging. Toner is something that helps in balancing the pH level of the skin after cleansing. It also helps in removing any leftover makeup or oil residue leaving the skin back to its natural levels. Each ingredient in a toner works in a different manner. While some are suited for refreshing the skin others help in hydrating and maintaining oil production. Since we all know that toners can do wonders for the skin, here are 2 easy toner recipes that can help oily skin.
GREEN TEA | APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
These two ingredients are the easiest to find in any kitchen. All you need is 2 Green tea bags and half cup full of Apple Cider Vinegar. Start by steeping 2 green tea bags in hot water. Leave it aside for a few minutes. Once steeped, throw the bags away and let the water cool for a considerate amount of time. Once cool, take one cup of the green tea and add half a cup of apple cider vinegar to it. Fill the mixture in a spray bottle and refrigerate. You can use this mixture for about 10 days after preparation.
The green tea’s anti-inflammatory properties help in controlling the breakouts while it is also effective in treating redness and acne. On the other hand, apple cider vinegar helps in balancing the pH level of the skin while bringing it back to normal.
LEMON | WATER | WITCH HAZEL
Start by peeling one locally sourced orange or lemon. Now take the peels off and cut it into small pieces. Dd these peels into a cup of water and boil them for a few minutes. Once the water boils, leave the mixture aside overnight. Strain liquid into a spray bottle and add 1 tablespoon of witch hazel. Once done, shake the spray bottle well and use it directly on the face.
Vitamin C, found in lemon and oranges is one of the important ingredients in our food palette. However, it is also a useful ingredient when it comes down to beauty. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals while working on the regeneration process of the skin cells.
