A Harry Potter-themed yoga class, created by two sisters in Texas, is a hit with the Muggles about town.
The idea initially came to Ximena Larkin and Isabel Beltran as one to celebrate Halloween and Day of the Dead, and to help attendance of their class, which is held at Circle Brewing Co. in Austin.
“I was reflecting on Harry Potter because Halloween night is the night his parents died and I thought it would be interesting to do something around Harry Potter, Halloween and death,” Larkin told The Huffington Post. “We’re Mexican and celebrate the Day of The Dead. It’s not morbid, but rather a celebration of life.”
So, Beltran, who is a yoga teacher, threw on a witch’s robe and wizard’s tie, grabbed a wand, and got to renaming classic yoga poses to be on theme with the Potter series: tree pose became Whomping Willow, cobra pose became Slytherin Cobra, and so on. The two even handed out wands to those in attendance, so everyone could cast their own charms while posing.
