Choose your own adventure: You’re a fifth-grade student who is given a choice of how to celebrate your elementary school graduation. Do you …?
A. Go on a trip to Europe
B. Take a 200-hour yoga teacher training course
While most, if not all, of you probably would have picked the first option, 11-year-old Tabay Atkins (son of former NFL player Larry Atkins) opted for the latter when his mom asked him that very question last year. After completing the program, he is one of the most in-demand yoga teachers in the San Clemente, California, area.
Tabay began taking yoga classes as a 6-year-old while his mother, Sahel Anvarinejad, began doing her certification as she was recovering from non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Tabay would frequently attend the trainings with her and instantly loved it.
“He chose training without hesitation,” Anvarinejad told ABC News. “He said, ‘Mom I want to do this too. I want to teach people so yoga can help them the way that yoga helped you.'”
Tabay then became the youngest person ever to complete the YOGAthletica Teacher Training, and he now teaches three days a week. His classes are donation-only, and the proceeds go to charities helping families with cancer.
His clearly proud parents chatted with the “Good Morning America” crew on Tuesday, and it’s totally worth a watch.
Is Tabay the most amazing kid ever or the most amazing kid ever?
